DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to offer GYC members a rare opportunity to visit the House Mill at Three Mills\, one of London’s most extraordinary historic industrial sites – private guided tour on Saturday 6th September:\nTour Details \n\nGYC Lead : William McDervitt\nMeet: 11:00 at the venue\nTour starts: 11:30\nDonation: £10/person (includes tour\, artisan guidebook/poster\, and a hot drink)\n\nThere are only 18 spaces available\, so please secure your spot by making payment via the links above.  You can arrive by foot\, cycle\, train or DLR. \n🏰 About the House Mill\nThe House Mill stands on the historic Three Mills Island\, a site with milling heritage dating back nearly 1\,000 years. \n\nThe Domesday Book (1086) recorded Britain’s earliest known mills here.\nThe foundations of the current House Mill date from 1380–1420.\nFor centuries\, the mills produced flour for Stratford‑atte‑Bow bakers supplying the City of London.\nIn 1588\, during the Spanish Armada\, the site briefly operated as a gunpowder mill supporting England’s defence.\n\nThis is a wonderful chance to explore the building many of us have rowed past for decades and to learn about its remarkable place in London’s history so close to our yacht club. \nWebsite: https://housemill.org.uk/ \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Preeda at social@greenwichyachtclub.co.uk. \nBy London Underground & DLR\nThe nearest station is Bromley-by-Bow (5-minute walk). \nDLR stations are Abbey Road\, Bow Church\, Devons Road\, Pudding Mill Lane and Stratford High Street\, and all are a 10-minute walk away.\nBy Bus\nBus routes 108.
